Used Travel trailers come in a variety of sizes, ranging from 10 foot tag alongs to as large as 42 foot park models. Many feature a slideout to quickly extend the unit's living space. Travel trailers must be pulled by a separate tow vehicle usually equipped with a load distributing hitch and other special devices designed to control the sway of the trailer. Depending on the size and type of travel trailer (often called "campers") most full-size sedans, vans, SUVs and pickup trucks can be used as a tow vehicle. Many, manufacturers have been introducing lighter weight models in recent years (such as Hi Lo, Heartland and TrailManor) to reduce the burden of towing.
Variations of the classic travel trailer include toy haulers and Hybrid campers. Toy haulers have all the ammenites and standard features of a travel trailer with the added feature of a large ramp door & cargo area for hauling ATVs, Motorcycles or other "toys". Hybrids have a canvas enclosed slide out similar to a pop up camper.

Travel trailers usually provide cooking facilities, a refrigerator, heating, air conditioning, a self-contained toilet, a shower, water tanks (fresh water, grey water, black water), faucets, sinks, a LP (propane) gas supply, and a separate 100-125 volt electrical system. They can sleep up to eight people depending on the model and floor plan.
